About Dr. Jean-François Gauthier

Dr. Jean-François Gauthier graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1981, with a honours Bachelor of Science degree specializing in human kinetics (the study of human movement and performance).  He was then accepted into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, graduating in 1985 with academic and clinic honours.  His father, retired Senator Dr. Jean-Robert Gauthier, founded the chiropractic center in Sandy Hill in 1954.  Dr. Jean-François joined him in practice in 1985.  His father was the Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Ottawa-Vanier for 22 years before being named to the Senate of Canada in 1996.

Up to that year he maintained a part-time chiropractic practice because you never know what can happen in politics!  Because of Dr. Jean-François strong interest in the locomotor system he continued his studies in the field of pedorthics.  He certified as a Canadian Certified Pedorthist in 2008.  Pedorthists are trained foot health specialists who assess, design, manufacture, fit and modify foot orthoses and footwear for the purpose of alleviating foot and leg conditions.  Dr. Gauthier feels that being both a chiropractor and a pedorthist positions him clearly as the expert in the field of spinal and locomotor system biomechanics.
